No chance whatsoever because Boras is calling the shots and he will not allow a client to take a cut unless the market absolutely collapses.

I think there's a small chance, even if nobody agrees. (See my post on the ARod to opt out thread for my reasoning.)

What Detroit needs is a TRUE (read: patient) leadoff hitter. Any out there?

Tigers acquired shortstop Edgar Renteria from the Braves for RHP Jair Jurrjens and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez.

So do the Braves need a $30 million shortstop?

So Carlos Guillen is really going to play first, eh?

    Interesting.

I still say it's a good move for the Tigers.

Not sure if I like that deal for Atlanta. Renteria was the most consistent hitter in the lineup and seemed like he had taken a liking to Atlanta after sucking in Boston.

Then again, I don't know much about this Jurrjens cat, and I sure as hell haven't heard of Gorkys Hernandez.

As for Atlanta's SS situation, who the hell knows? They can't afford A-Rod and a new pitching staff. The Braves now have four gaping holes to fill.
