Horrific Poker Bad Beat

    This was not a horrific poker beat.

    This was barely a bad poker beat.

    Yes, your dad was about 3 to 1 on the flop, but dude had three Q's with the second best kicker -- where is he going, particularly since he probably had the odds or very close to the odds to call just speculating on the pot size.

    Just about 20 minutes ago, I'm in a tourney online (only .25 buy-in), and I get pocket 5s.

    couple raisers and callers, flop then comes 5, 8, 2.

    I've got a set.. guy bets 720, so I come over the top all-in.

    He turns over pocket 8s... and I hit the rail.

    Sucks, but it really isn't a bad beat.

    I looked at it as a bad beat just because after the flop the only hand in the entire deck that could beat me was pocket 8's, so he had two of the three cards that could beat me at that point in the hand.
