Actually Pastor, four students were withheld their diplomas, not just the honor grad.

My mistake on that then. I am curious about the total number of graduates and which family decided to break the rules first. I think that would give the real indication.

In lieu of these kids not receiving their diplomas, I hereby bestow on them and their families their own special SportsJournalists.com award.

The cheering is not that disruptive. Nobody missed hearing a name. That said, there's no noise during the other names, lending weight to poin's seal.

Oh, and be sure to listen to the seventh name called. It's one of our own ... if you can call him that.

    Absolutely.

The assholes can wait until the noise dies down and read the next name.

Yes, it's a longer day, but it is already long, even in the antiseptic mode that these yahoos want.

Sock, my point is about the fact that the kids have to earn the diplomas back.
The admins are holding this over them, and it's not right.

Since the parents are the people that couldn't control themselves and felt the rules didn't apply to them....they should be the one's that have to earn their childs diploma back.

Witholding the diplomas isn't the right way to go. Escorting noise-makers out of the gym is.

What would escorting them out of the gym do? They've already disrupted the ceremony, which was the whole point of the rule.

And there'd be *another* disruption when they refuse to leave.

    Terrible idea, IMO.

you're right....the family has already proven themselves to be ignorant, so I'm sure they wouldn't show up.
