Holy crap, I almost Darwined myself.

Went out to light the grill to cook a couple of steaks. Had to reach through some spider webs to turn on the valve on the propane tank. After lighting the grill I did what I often like to do with spider webs -- took the lighter to them.

Except the webs were near the tank and the valve, which apparently lets just a little of the propane seep out.

Next thing I know flames are shooting off the valve.

Fortunately the hose was within 15 feet. Ran off the deck, turned on the hose and doused the flames.

My heart will slow down sometime around Wednesday.

 

I blame Obama.

Seriously, I had that happen to me, though not via torching spider webs.

Had to smother the flame with a towel. Nearly Darwined and gave my hand a tattoo, a la, the bespectacled Nazi dude in Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

You can buy a special brush to clean out the venturi tubes. In late summer and fall you should probably do it once a week or so.
