In all seriousness for a second ...

I lived in the Middle East for a good while when I was younger, and shoe-throwing was fairly common as a sign of extreme contempt or disrespect. In Arab culture, it's akin to spitting on someone.

 

This is why I always wear cleats on assignments. You never know who's going to show up.

 

That's going to be the front page story in papers across the country.

I'm amazed that Secret Service didn't beat the living hell out of the guy after he tossed the first shoe.

The second angle on the BBC video posted above shows just how close the guy got to pegging the president right in the face.

Pretty good reflexes for a 62-year-old man. Though if the guy had just thrown the first shoe without yelling first, he probably would have drilled him ...

 

Sweet moves by Bush. He'd be an All-Pro at dodgeball.

 

Knowing how women feel about their shoes, maybe a better question is "Would you give up a shoe (or two) for this president?"

I'll have to wait until I get on a real computer. I try to play the BBC video and my computer tells me there's some script that's making my Flash run real slow and if I continue it will make my comp nonresponsive.
