Opening up a potentially ugly can o' worms here, but if you could name actors from the MODERN ERA (i.e., 1980 to now) who have that Hall-of-Fame caliber career, who would make your list? We're talking actors who have become legendary in their careers, like Stewart, Cagney, Bogart, etc.

For me, it's a rather short one: Tom Hanks, Harrison Ford and regrettably, Tom Cruise.

    Who makes your list?

Johnny Depp and Russell Crowe are, for my money, the best actors working today and first-ballot Hall of Famers.

spnited, I think he means stars who emerged from 1980 on.

I'll give it to Russell Crowe. Johnny Depp...maybe it's my intense dislike of virtually every film he's ever done, but I'm just not ready to give him my vote yet.

Maybe it's because I think he could play the shark from Jaws, but my vote is for Ben Affleck.
  11. Edward Norton.
