Holiday cautions

    The annual holiday "Do Not Use" list is almost becoming a cliche in itself. I think a big part of the problem is that you can't listen to a radio newscast or watch a TV broadcast and not see the highest-profile journalists violating every damn one of them.

    +1. The link includes this: "Some readers (and, sadly, some writers) lap up this swill. It is familiar, and the complete lack of originality comforts them. It is for such people that television exists."

    Last time I checked TV's doing a lot better than we are, so lets relax with the "those readers who like that are too dumb for their own good!" attitude.

    That's not as bad as the game story I saw in my local daily metro over the weekend: approximately 400 words and no mention of the final score.
