Saw a couple of TV trucks parked on State around noon today and wondered if something was up.

When Minnesota made a run at Brady Hoke, a $5 million dollar contribution was made to the SDSU:

A University of St. Thomas graduate might have helped keep Brady Hoke from becoming the University of Minnesota football coach.

Ron Fowler, a 1966 St. Thomas grad who has been CEO of a large beverage distribution company, has pledged $5 million to the San Diego State athletic department, the first $1 million to be used on salaries for Hoke, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Hoke on Monday agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in San Diego through 2015.

The Tommie may have to dig deeper now.

Les Miles, this time without Herbstreit's interference. I'd rather not have a Lloyd Carr disciple coming in to coach the program.

Given the level of patience of the average Michigan fan they'll need to hire somebody who runs a system that fits the players that are in place.

In that case, the best candidate would be -- Rich Rodriguez!

Sounds like they are haggling out a going-away price.

The mere mentioning of Glen Mason would make a Gopher fan snicker.

Part of me hopes ESPN bungles a second straight coaching change at Michigan.

Agree. Have to be working out the details. Does RR have that much leverage to be able to negotiate the terms he wants to go away?

How does this happen at a place like Michigan? This is Michigan, not Minnesota.

What if Mr. Stanford, Hoke and Miles turn them down?

Say goodbye to Denard Robinson if they do not bring in a spread coach.
