When considering Jeter for HOF You really have to consider him against other SS's not Outfielders.

That said - either way he is in on first ballot.

Ok, I had to laugh at the exchange above.

Kevin says "Jeter's always played great at shortstop," spnited says "He's never been a great shortstop... average at best in his prime, below average now."

    Then Kevin says "That's true."

The force is strong with spnited... :)

Well, Spnited was correct. Jeter is all show with his running and jumping throws, but very rarely is he actually ever on target with those throws. He can make some good stops at times, but also makes too many stupid moves like trying to take the bag at second himself rather than just passing it off to Cano or whoever is playing second at the time.

None of that is why he is bad defensively. You should stop now.

Save for a complete collapse, Jeter is a first ballot pick for HOF.
will be very surprised if he isn't.

this is just about the lamest discusion EVER on this board, which is saying a lot.

yankee/jeter haters, get over yourselves. the guy is a LOCK for the HOF. the rest of this is all just a haters' exercise.

I don't think anybody said he wasn't a lock, and if they did their morons, but that doesn't mean he's not a shitty defensive shortstop.

I think shockey's comment was directed at the thread starter...a known Jeter-hater and red sox fanboilooser.

    This is absolute silliness.

I'm not a Yankee fan or a Jeter fan, but c'mon. He will finish with over 3,000 hits--maybe even with 4,000. He has four World Series rings with the Yankees, and it is not like he was the 25th guy on the bench. He's the Captain of one of the most iconic professional sports organizations in the world.

He's getting in the Hall. Defensive shortcomings, or not.

true dat. we've had many, many, many debates on jeter's defensive abilities. the thread title, however, seemed to be aimed at whether he is hof-worthy. that is NOT debatable, imho.
