    I knew about the Cuban Missile Crisis, I was just puzzled as to why anyone would call it "appeasement." Turns out there was an element of the agreement to end the crisis that I had been unaware of.

    It's an odd assessment to refer to that crisis as "appeasement." There were plenty of people who felt we were being weak-kneed for compromising with the Communists, although with the span of history now behind us, we can see why it was a good thing to be a little softer for once.

    And to anyone who suggests trying to find an alternative to all-out annihilation of our "enemy" is a form of appeasement is a moron. We don't have to kill people to make friends, as someone (not on this board) once suggested was the role of a peacemaker.
