Is it common for a paper to cover high school football spring games? And any advice on how to cover one of these things?

As with any spring football game, don't worry about the score, so much as who stood out -- potential new starters, replacements at key positions, etc. ... the fact that Black put up 35 on Gold's defense won't matter ... ever.
