It solved his cellmate's sexual frustration, perhaps.

I will admit there have been a few basketball officials I would have liked to hit with a chair. Fortunately I have only done it a couple times...I kid, I kid.

The guy who did this is actually from Jasper. (I talked to the Hackleburg, Ala., police chief for my BLOG!) He was charged with disorderly conduct, a Class C felony for assault on a sports official and a Class C felony for assault on a police officer (the guy apparently kicked an officer and spit on him). Yes, we have gotten to the point with prep and youth sports where assaulting an official carries the same severity as assaulting a cop.

In a comment on my blog, and in comments elsewhere, I've seen people reference that this guy has a "diminished mental capacity," whatever that means.

By the way, things you learn -- Hackleburg up til now was most famous for being the hometown of country singer Sonny James, the Southern Gentleman.

Wow. Nice pull on Sonny James. Greatest hit? Young Love?

Thanks. Yes, I believe "Young Love" would be considered his signature song.
