    Description:
    Times Media is looking for a high school/college sports reporter who writes compelling journalism and continuously grows a fan base by informing and engaging readers. Must be skilled in the use of digital reporting tools, including photo, video and social media.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Acting as a public ambassador through community outreach while connecting with readers.
    • Provide thoughtful analysis of complex issues and produce watchdog journalism that leads to change.
    • Works with content coach and strategists along with the audience analysts to shape storytelling to meet audience needs and interests on every platform – contributing to the greater good of the community through impactful journalism.
    • Focuses on covering the 21 local high school sports programs with a secondary emphasis on local college sports. St John’s University football is priority in the college coverage.
    • During the off season, covers St Cloud Rox (Northwoods League) baseball and key running, duathlon, triathlon and bike races and recreational sports.
    • Coordinates coverage with other sports reporters along with live blogs and other content offerings.
    • Experience in digital reporting tools, including photo and video along with social media is required.
    • Engage with readers and regularly provide reporting that answers their questions.
    Requirements:

    • A bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
    • A minimum of 2-3 years of journalism experience.
    • Must be a self-starter and a talented story teller who will work in collaboration with an experienced team of reporters.
    • Excellent grammar and writing skills along with the ability to multi-task and thrive in a deadline driven environment.
    • Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and dependable transportation.
    This is a full-time position, with some nights required. This position is subject to post-offer drug screens and satisfactory motor vehicle record check.

    Previous guy was at the Times for 7 years...left to take a 9 to 5 job.

    St Cloud is about 65k population within an hour's drive of Minneapolis. D2 school (with D1 hockey) in town, with St John's (D3) about 5 minutes out of town.
