on starz now. nearing the end.

not "shawshank," but a terrific relationships film with an awesome soundtrack and cameo speaking role by springsteen.

    very underappreciated, imo. 8) 8) 8)

This is one where the book was better than the movie.

I was just going to post that — though it was nice to see Lisa Bonet looking so lovely.

Oh yeah... Worse than the book OR movie...

I wanted to see this for the comedy value before it closed in the middle of its first performance. Click on the video... I busted a gut laughing the first time I saw it. It's beyond bad...

It makes up for my lack of social life. I probably go through three books a week.

Marie de Salle's playing. You remember I told you about her. I like her. She's kind of Sheryl Crow-ish crossed with a post-Partridge Family pre-L.A. Law Susan Dey kind of thing, but, you know, uh, black.

I need to put that back as my sig.

    Another from that scene:

Dick: I guess it looks as if you're reorganizing your records. What is this though? Chronological?
    Rob: No...
    Dick: Not alphabetical...
    Rob: Nope...
    Dick: What?
    Rob: Autobiographical.
    Dick: No fucking way.

Jack Black steals this flick, from his rant on Stevie Wonder to one of his best lines in any film...

"... and Rob, does Laura dress you? That's the worst fucking sweater I've ever seen... it's a Cosby sweater... A COOOOOSSSBY SWEATER!!!"

The greatest compliment I ever received was centered around this movie. A college friend was convinced Nick Hornby based Barry on me.

We'd sit around with the rest of our friends on a Friday night, drinking bad beer after someone's radio shift, doing top-fives all night.

I'm watching this movie again when I go home.
