    Does a convention site matter any more, other than which city's prostitution business gets a big boost?

    (Of course, as long as there is a DLC, the Democrats don't need to hire any prostitutes.)

    The Republicans held their convention in New York in 2004. They lost New York. They held their convention in San Diego in 1996. They lost California that year. The Democrats held their 1988 convention in Georgia and the lost Georgia.

    I think holding a convention in a state can give added influence to members of the party within the state, and it probably leads to other convention business because it shows you can hold a big convention in the city.
