GB-Hack, I'll believe that when I see it. It would be refreshing.

They said the same thing in '04 when they won 13 straight, briefly packed the place out and got back to .500 before the break.

Then they remembered they're the Rays.

Until they do more than one thing right, they're a candidate for euthanization.

In case you didn't pay attention over the offseason, they did a lot of things right, and they have 3 of the top 14 prospects in the country. This team is going to be a lot better this season, injuries permitting of course.

Getting rid of Young and Dukes were huge steps forward for a team that allowed the inmates to run the asylum.

Rays have some outstanding young pitching.

This team has always drafted well, or so they and others believed.

Not sure where it falls on the subject, but Bartolo Colon just signed a minor-league deal with the Red Sox. As spring training progresses, that may be where some of these guys "slip" to. Still beats getting a real job.

why, again, is $850k being chump change 'sad to say'?

OK. Apples to apples, a worker 50 or older?

Big difference--literally--between Colon and Stewart/Patterson/et al. Colon is 35, woefully out of shape and his arm is shot. I don't think he's got anything left.

Stewart can still be a useful platoon player at the least.

Okay. So first you were comparing 30-year-old ball players to "any" 30-year-old in the American workforce.

Now you're comparing a 30-year-old ball player to a 50-year-old worker in the American workforce.

You were closer to "apples to apples" in the first comparison. At least the ages were the same.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Stewart is a fantastic pickup at $1.5 million for the year.

No. A 50-year-old is considered too expensive and too overqualified at many companies today.

The uniform re-design wasn't one of them.
