    Hi everyone,

Two colleagues and I are working on an chapter for a two-volume book concerning the cultural impact of COVID-19. Our chapter is tentatively entitled “When Sports Stood Still,” and we are hoping that some of you might take the time to provide feedback on how the shutting down of sports has impacted you, from the perspective of a fan, not a journalist. Here are some ideas that we are particularly interested in pursuing:

    · Have you felt loss? Has the depth or extent of the loss surprised you in any way?

    · Did the loss of one or two events (March Madness, the Masters, etc.) hit you the hardest, and can you elaborate on why?

    · Has the loss caused you to view old footage or alternative “competitions” as substitutions for current sporting events? Which ones? Have they provided you the same satisfactions?

    · Have you gained anything from the absence of sports – perhaps a new hobby, perspective, revelation, etc.?

I know this seems like a lot, so if you’re kind enough to respond to only some of these points, we would be very appreciative. Thank you.
