I saw that report and the first thing I thought of was "Naturally they turn to an editor at In Touch for in-depth psychoanalysis."

For reference, there's also this: http://www.twilightmoms.com/

    Also, interesting context: http://www.slashfilm.com/2009/11/03/the-twilight-saga-new-moon-spawns-imdb-battle-of-the-sexes-turf-war/

I was asked Saturday if I wanted to see this movie.
I said 'No, I'm going to stay home chewing razor blades and drinking Witch-hazel.'

Bella may be "most powerful (mentally) of any vampire, male or female", but she spends three-and-a-half books doing whatever Edward, and in his absence, Jacob, tells her to. She's a worthless lead character and really made me hate her.

Poorly written, stupid plot, and really, really awful messages for young girls. I hate these books. And yet I keep seeing the equally bad movies...

I understand the erotics are /really/ clumsily handled, as you might expect from someone raised in the Mormon church.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I was roped into watching the first one, and it was OK. I thought Edward's sister was smokin', but beyond that, meh. It pains me that the females in chez noveliste are so taken with it, but that view is colored by the Esquire essay which asserts that the vampire stuff in our culture is merely a hint that females aged 13 - 45 all want to have sex with gay men. Whatever. I guess it's no worse than my obsession with going to ball games, so I just deal and wait for the phase to blow over.
