John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Elmore James, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty, Dr. John, Hank Jr., Willie, Johnny Cash, Jerry Reed.

Anything by any of them deserves consideration.

James McMurtry. Especially the new album, "Just Us Kids." Tremendous. One critic called him "a rural Lou Reed," and I think the description is perfect.

Find a way to rip all of Tom Petty's music library onto your computer.

Presto! Problem solved with some great music.
