I've tried all sorts of different spyware removal programs, pop-up blockers and security programs and I've come to one conclusion:
If somebody is determined to fuck up your computer they're going to do it.
These people aren't just going to fold up their tents because there's a program out there that keeps them from putting the spyware on people's computers. They're going to find a way around it.
If there's one universal truth in this world it's that there's a way around everything.

I used to have a similar problem, but then I got the free copy of AVG and everything has been fine since.

I didn't have my comp hooked up to the net for a year, so when I recently moved and got it back on, I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the newest security updates, etc.

Now my computer is really effed up. I don't know what happened. Now, it suddenly restarts for no reason and I often have trouble just opening Firefox. I tried doing a system restore, but no dates are coming up for me to restore to. I don't know what to do.

I'd wipe the hard drive, but I have a couple of programs that I need that are no longer available and I'd have to re-register them to get them working again. Of course, I can't do that, since they're not available anymore. ARggghh!

  6. Your problem is spyware/adware that you picked up from a dubious site or email. Spend the $ on a spyware removal tool. Firefox is 20 times safer than IE, Firefox is not your problem.

With your speed, kid, you should be hitting them on the ground and legging them out. Every time you get a popup, you owe me 20 pushups.

Wow, this is one bad-ass bug, whatever it is.

It's reset settings -- such as when I block all cookies, it resets it to allow all of them

AVG, Spyware S&D, Vungo ... they all find things and zap them, but the problem is still here.

All of the applications running appear to be kosher. I don't know why some of them need to run, but none of them are malicious, according to a Google search.

Before I spend money on a program, I'm curious why the one I already pay can't find anything.

Oh, and by the way, it reset some McAfee settings, too.

And System Restore still won't restore anything. It goes through the paces and then says "Oh, yeah, MMSW, sorry, it didn't work. Can't tell ya more than that, dude."

    One bad-ass bug indeed.

No need for replies or suggestions of porn. Just wanted to vent.
