Don't see how it's Clausen's fault ND's defense is a joke. Shouldn't hurt him at all. Maybe it does, but it shouldn't.

  2. At some point, though, you have to pitch over it and win a big game. He's never led them to a big victory over a ranked opponent. A Heisman winner should be able to do that at some point, somehow. Ty Detmer leading BYU over Miami comes to mind.

That is putting it mildly. The guy belongs on the football field, but if it wasn't a team that runs a spread option, he would never be a QB. He completes less than 50 percent of his passes--and that is with them not letting him even throw more than a handful of times a game--and in must-throw situations, I have never seen anyone at that level who is that inaccurate. In the Virginia Tech game, they only let him throw the ball 7 times and he only completed one pass. He threw a pick. In the Clemson game early in the season, we were sitting here blown away by how inaccurate he was. 3 for 14, with passes flying in every direction but to his receivers, including 2 picks. The next week, when they lost to Miami, they fell behind and he was incapable of bringing them back when they decided they had to start throwing. It's why I am so blown away by how good Georgia Tech is. They have a QB who can't throw the football, and everyone knows exactly what they are going to do on offense and they still keep winning. It amazes me.

How come you aren't saying that about Ponder?

Can't say I've ever bashed Ponder's chances because of a crap defense at FSU.
