I'm nominating John Daly for Junior Samples.

"Flaccid, flabby, soggy, sagging, splitting tubes of rotting animal flesh, floating languidly in a fetid bath of malodorous swill. Goddamn it, I hate it when they get it wrong!!!"

Just accounting for the quick-hit nature of Hee-Haw. Grandpa Jones didn't enough oxygen to get through the whole thing.

It would have been great to see him squinting at the cue cards, trying to read his way through it.

    "Flaccid... WTF?!? "

Just saw the Man in Black and June Carter Cash do the *pbbbbt* five minutes ago on CMT. Good stuff.

As corny as "Hee Haw" was, it's obvious watching these reruns that the performers had a hell of a lot of fun doing the show.

I'm waiting tables in college and I go to greet a new table. There sits what's her name, Kathy Baker, I think, the good looking Hee Haw woman who smiled a lot and didn't do much else except introduce another artist. Turns out she lived just outside of town.
And, full of my usual grace, I blurt out, "Holy shit, the Hee Haw lady."

She laughed (thank goodness) and said, yes, indeed. Fun to wait on as she was to look at, and a good tipper, too.

And the autographed photo he still treasures:

That picture was taken much later than when she ordered a medium rare Kensington Club from me.

She always came across as a sweetie on the show. Just good, down-home goodness, ya know?

She was that way at dinner, too.
    BR 549, over and out.
