Headline Writer Gone Wild...

    In the 80's when I lived out in that general direction, Liberal's girls teams called themselves the Redskinettes.

    Wow, fossy. None of those three makes any sense but the last one, wow. What are people thinking when they come up with these names?

    We also have Buckettes (boys are the Bucks).
    By the way, the state association publishes a book each year listing each school and important information (sports offered, school contact numbers, etc), including the team nicknames. Not one has "Lady" officially listed as part of a name, including the all-girls schools
    On a side note, I graduated high school in '87 in Iowa and the girls teams at my school then used Bruinettes (boys were the Bears).
