Kind of a sad move by the US Senator. Too bad he couldn't just read Woj's email and send a reply back rather than tell the world Woj cussed at him. Kind of a dxxk move if you ask me by the Senator.

First half of that sentence undoes the second.

    He shouldn't have replied.

And he certainly shouldn't have replied from his ESPN address. That made it a work issue.

And and - why does Woj feel the need to defend the NBA against Hawley's letter to Silver?

I agree. In today's Trumpian, post-an-opinion/have something-to say-about-everything social media world -- which practically owes its existence to such responses -- this pretty tame, and almost expected to be done, by somebody.

The fact that Woj did it on his ESPN email address makes it a little embarrassing for image-conscious ESPN, but the fact that most other people, even at ESPN, probably agree with the sentiment, and are not actually that bothered by it, will mitigate the act, whether it should, or not.

Somebody posted earlier that they didn't know what Woj was thinking. He wasn't thinking. He was just spouting his immediate reaction. Which is what people do nowadays.

Unprofessional move by a great sports writer. And it is a bad look for someone who often functions as a de facto NBA messenger to rush to the NBA’s defense like that.

This is one of the deals where you write "Fuck you" (and worse), get up and walk the dog, and hit delete upon returning. Everyone wins.

It was a very dumb thing to do but it'll probably make Woj even more powerful in NBA newsgathering circles. The players and coaches largely love it. The majority of GMs and owners (with maybe the exception of Morey) are probably OK with it too. Short term pain for long term gain. He's a legend now.

Everybody's acting like he thinks people should stand for the national anthem or something.

When "The King of Staten Island" (which is excellent, BTW) came out, I read a Pete Davidson story where he was quoted during a stand-up routine (back when those could happen--might have been his Netflix special) saying he wished he'd never apologized to Crenshaw and had him on SNL. Guy is right. Dipshit Dan exploited a tasteless comment by Pete (who once said "Soul Plane" was the worst experience he'd ever had with a plane) not because he was offended by the comment but b/c he saw an opportunity to raise his profile and pretend to be wounded by the big bad liberals who are never understanding and are so mean to anyone with a different opinion. Anyone who has been subjected to his Tweets RTd by not-nearly-as-bright-as-they-think-they-are-conservatives the last few months understands Dan is, even by the standards of the 2020 Republican party, a shameless and idiotic opportunistic. Go fuck yourself. Dan.

Woj should have forwarded that email to every NBA player he has an email for.

But you can’t say shit like that on your work email.
