    Because it's a process, Blitz.

And if we start "killing some of them" ... how do we choose which ones go first?

Sounds like the start of another process to me.

Are you certain 100 percent of the people waiting on the row are guilty? If not, there's no way the appeals process should be ended. Tightened, maybe. But not ended. Otherwise, it's just irresponsible.

I spoke of "tightening" in an earlier post.
Tightening is the first step to the reforms we need.
We've got great laws. We don't enforce them.
I don't think the prisons in most other "civilized" nations have the overflowing prisoner populations that the U.S. has
I just don't think they do.
Now, their talking about letting all the crack users and crack sellers in U.S. prisons go scott free.
Talk about a fucked up system.

They also don't have the death penalty.

And study after study has shown it is infinitely more productive to focus on drug treatment instead of mass jailing of drug offenders, but we can't do that, because politicians are afraid they won't look badass enough in the eyes of a voting populace that wants to execute car thieves.

I don't know about executing car thieves, but murderers - yes.
Even if we stall out on several who ARE on death row, there are plenty who are guilty through and through.
There's at least some we can pin that label on, aren't there?
And drug treatment for addicts? Sure, but when they stray from the program they need to be held accountable.
That's it ! We just don't hold our criminals accountable enough.
Someone needs to be made an example of.

    Why not execute car thieves?
Criminals do not being in society, period.
Obviously, you are only talking maybe 1% of the population who are criminals, but it sure makes things harder for the 99% of the rest of us.

    Well said.
I don't have all the answers but there's just far too much crime in the U.S., compared to other civilized societies.
    Too damn much
