I read this thread once and I haven't looked back.

One I hear on radio a lot, and will certainly be coming to a newspaper near you, is "victorious Bumblefuck Stadium." What did the stadium do to be labeled victorious? There was Victory Stadium in Roanoke, Virginia, but other than that, I fail to see how a stadium could be labeled victorious.

That's not "do what I had to do"!

At the end of the day, it is what it is...

One of my pet peeves: "Star Q. Bee completed passes to 12 different receivers."

As if he could complete passes to 12 identical receivers?

How about "Joe Smith said in the post-game lockerroom."
Is that different from the lockerrom they use before the game?

I like that phrase - although not in that exact use - in my situation, because we're a weekly. It helps our reader know the quote was gathered postgame as opposed to two days later.
In a daily paper, it's totally useless.

Doesn't help the readers know anything of significance. It helps you say "Hey, look at me, I was at the game and in the lockerroom."

    I'd agree with this.

Possibly. It could also provide context to what was said. In one phrase you describe when, where and what. I'm not in love with the phrase but maybe wouldn't have a problem with it.
