Has Mike Myers run out of ideas?

I can't remember where it was, but people were raving about it. Perhaps the letters to good people thread?

That was me, and you're right. I liked it. The stand-up wasn't as good as the one he did about 12 or 13 years ago, but I laughed a lot.

Myers on Letterman tonite. Whatever his detractors in the industry say, the dude is a funny-as-hell talkshow guest. He killed on the show. Also, he said he and Carvey just did the MTV movie awards together, shooting down my last post. He says Hartman was kind of the mutual friend that tied them together, so they haven't seen each other much, living on different coasts and Dana taking a huge break after his heart thing to be with his family. I still probably won't see Guru, but I still like MM, wish him well.

The Love Guru looks like the biggest mishmash of shit I've ever seen. Appropriate given that Myers has been heavily influenced by mishmash of shit movies like the original Casino Royale.

For all of the hype Myers has been doing for the Love Guru, it doesn't appear they were giving advance screenings to critics, judging by the paucity of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Get Smart checks in with a 43 percent "fresh" rating. I think I'm waiting for Tropic Thunder.

Best part about Ax: Casting Nancy Travis as the love interest. Criminally underrated. Almost tempted to watch Bill Engvall to see her, but it's just too painful.

  7. Just ask John Kruk.

Kruk was on Letterman or something with Myers and they were waiting backstage together.
Kruk mentioned it on the Best Damn Sports Show? once, he wouldn't go into a whole lot of detail, but you got the impression he did NOT care for Myers. At All.

Jessica Alba is hot as hell, but is one of the worst actors working.

I actually think this movie will be good. Myers doesn't work a ton and most of his movies are what they're supposed to be, a good time at the movies.

I can't think of any bombs he's been in, although some are clearly better than others.

    Sirs, Madames,

Re an earlier post: He was killing funny on Letterman, also maudlin about his father.

    YD&OHS, etc

If I'm not mistaken, every time Myers has been a lead character except Ax Murderer, cleared $100 million. I don't consider his part in 54 to be a lead.

Three Shreks, three Austin Powers, two Wayne's Worlds.

He doesn't work much, but that's an amazing success rate.

Stop the motherfucking presses. A comedian being a self-hating, desperate-for-approval, miserable son-of-a-bitch? Who'da thunk it? That only describes, oh, just about every great funny person in entertainment history. And a lot of lousy funny persons, too.

I like Steve Carell. I fucking love Anne Hathaway.

But I still can't imagine seeing Get Smart.
