    WotW = 2005
    Collateral = 2004

    Not overly recent.

    I didn't like either one.

    First up -- not fair at all to compare Reacher BO to The Hobbit. No one in the industry is, as The Hobbit is a once-or-twice-a-year 4-quadrant movie.

    Cruise WAS miscast as Reacher in that he's not 6-6 and menacing, but OTOH Cruise bought the rights for the book from Lee Childs and he named his best friend as the director, so Russell Crowe or Channing Tatum was never an option. Plus, the Sandy Hook shootings caused the studio to cancel the high-profile world premiere in Pittsburgh that Friday night.

    Meanwhile, both Oblivion and All You Need is Kill are going to be $100M+ major hits.

    The former might be the best trailer I've seen all month:

    Jason Statham.

    Also, I suggest Jason Statham for every tough-guy role that wouldn't fit Michael Madsen.

    I am not a huge TC fan, find his personal views detestable ,d MI2 was one of the few movies I walked out of because I thought it sucked.

    I did not know that Jack Reacher was a book when I went to the movie on Friday night. I thought he was really good in it and could see it turning into a "Bourne" type series for him.

    That being said I don't think TC was key to my enjoying it, just thought he did a good job and had no problem with suspending my disbelief.

    Based on reading some of the books agree that Cruise was miscast as Jack Reacher but not sure that would account for low box office. I doubt that many movie goes even heard of Jack Reacher or the book series until this movie.

    In the his day story was tailor made for Clint Eastwood. Currently I think Jason Strathan would have been a good choice.

  7. Tom Hardy might have been a good choice.

    Renner? Or is he too short?

    It's weird how short some actors are. Jason Statham is 5-9. Tom Hardy is 5-11. Liam Neeson, though, is 6-4.

    It cracks me up whenever Craig Ferguson has a woman guest who is short and pulls out a foot stool so her legs don't have to dangle. He says he keeps that handy in case Tom Cruise shows up.

    I think the problem is, if you are familiar with Jack Reacher going in, Cruise is a bizarre choice.

    If you're not familiar with Jack Reacher going in, "Jack Reacher" is a pretty horrible name for a movie.

  12. Excellent points.

    If you asked me if I saw the movie Jack Reacher and knew nothing about it - I would think you were asking me about a gay porn title.
