I believe this is the clip you're thinking of:

There's little evidence that Al Qaida was very organized at all. There was a cult personality leading and financing a small group. Then there were imitators. If the Muslim Brotherhood successfully struck against US interests tomorrow, dozens of subsequent terrorist attacks would claim to be the result of the brotherhood. Infamy through association.

As long as we treat Al Qaeda as criminals and not as soldiers, we'll be fine. The more we call this a "war on terror", the more we give transform these cave dwellers from criminals to soldiers and give them power.

    In what way?

It legitimizes them as "warriors" in a "holy war."

    And tactically speaking, Chuck's right.

    To whom?

To themselves and the people they're trying to appeal to.

And I will repeat myself: Tactically speaking, Chuck's right. When the RAND Corporation, a major DoD-connected think tank, issues a report saying the military approach is not the correct one, it's probably time to rethink the military approach.

That audience responds pretty well ot terrorists too, they couldn't care less what we call them. Now you can repeat yourself again.

Of course this story's floating around. Hell, look how close we are to the election.

I'm looking forward to the day the Republicans trot out Bin Laden in custody just mere days before the election. They treat politics like TV wrestling; the timing of their stunts is impeccable (and frankly, from a tactical and strategic non-partisan POV applaudable), and the stupid shitasses that populate this country lap it up.

    You say this every November.

I'm looking forward to it too. Mainly because I'm sick and fucking tired of Democrats predicting it every two fucking years.
