Ok, guys, I'll grant that there could be something fishy on the restaurant's end. But let's remember that this small operation doesn't have a web editor/designer, so it's not so easy as to just update the site. The owner didn't seem all that proficient in English, and he still handled it better than this douche. Had it been me, I wouldn't have even asked for a refund. I would have just let them know about the discrepancy and see if that took care of it. I'm not real clear on whether this guy was at the site of the right location or not. Seems to be some dispute. But if he was pinching pennies, they should have told him the price when he ordered or picked it up and handled it then.

I know the online menu is a bit different, but I ordered a pizza and some other stuff on Sunday, and when she told me the total, it seemed to be a bit more than I expected. But the menu on the side of my fridge had probably been there for a few years, so I just chalked it up as my mistake. Big freaking deal.

Restaurant owner takes high road, further paints douchebag as Rich Guy From Hell:

I support Jon Staff and will contribute to the Greater Boston Food Bank. I appreciate all the support and increase in business we have received but you need to realize we are just one of thousands of small establishments that need your support. I ask you to not just support us but your neighborhood establishments also, your local take-out restaurant, a bodega/market down the street. If we stick together and support our local community we will grow together as a community.

What kind of pauper wages must Harvard be paying its poor starving business professors? How else to explain this level of obsession with four dollar overcharges and sushi coupons.

An article where the comments are worth reading. Will be interesting to see if he gets that tenure next year:

  7. Is he straight, Jewish, or a Democrat? Bloomberg readers want to know.

Is Harvard's system of promote professors to associate before granting tenure unique?

I don't know that that's Harvard's system. Promotion before tenure's not the norm, but it's not all that unusual, either.

I doubt this guy would get tenured in Harvard's Econ department -- his scholarly work is awfully thin by their standards -- but he's in the business school. They play by their own rules there.

Story gets better. Editor from Boston.com created a T-shirt trying to make a buck off this -- and drops the S-bomb in the design of said shirt.

  10. I looked it Harvard's tenure practices, and promotion before tenure is the norm there. The tenure guide for Arts & Sciences is at https://www.seas.harvard.edu/sites/default/files/files/Academic%20Affairs/FAS-Tenure-Track-Handbook.pdf

He does have a peer-reviewed article regarding porn consumers at http://www.people.hbs.edu/bedelman/papers/redlightstates.pdf

You can explain him arguing over four dollars because he's an asshole.
