I have no idea what it is, but my Far Side calendar says our Canadian SportsJournalists.com brethren are celebrating a holiday today. I'm guess they've got some hockey going on somewhere in the day's honor. Someone outside of Calgary's probably put together a lumberjack competition, too.

    And somewhere, Jones is drunk.

Looks like someone nailed you trying to steal bandwidth, Fenian.

And on Victoria Day, of all times ... shame on you. What would her majesty say?

This is our Memorial Day weekend. Summer comes one week earlier here.

Is this the calendar-based system for measuring the start of the season, since you guys can no longer use the Expos' elimination from the playoffs as a yardstick?

Who are these Expos of which you speak?

Nothing wrong with a healthy dose of "Days of Our Lives." Apparently Stefano DiMera is on his way back to Salem. Quality!

And thanks to OTR for the "May 2-4" wishes.

Is this one of those holidays at the end of the Stoobian posts? ;D

Isn't there at least one legal holiday per month in Canada? I was there in August a few years ago (St. Catherine's, Ontario) and there was something simply called "civic holiday." No apparent significance to the holiday except to give people a day off.

Further proof that life is more civilized north of the border. :)

It's a provincial statutory holiday which means you get it off with pay. If you work, you get paid for the day & the holiday.

    And don't forget Boxing Day.

    Another holiday imported from England.
