    Near 70 here too.

I lived on the better side of the St. Croix River from Rosie for a few years and there is no more depressing time of the year than March, April and early May. The foliage doesn't start greening up until May. It just seems to be gray for most of spring.

Meanwhile, I've got yard work to do here.

The lake that I live on finally thawed out Saturday. That's the first time in my 10 years here that it was still frozen in April. And April 5, at that. In 2000, it thawed out on Feb. 29. It also froze over earlier than normal back in early December. Just a brutal winter all the way around.

But at least we're not getting another one of those spring storms like Rosie got.

It's snowing here this morning. Nothing in the forecast indicated such.

Yet another reason to thoroughly detest this area ...

It's really not that cold out, believe it or not. It's about 30 right now.

Here's what's going to be bad. Since it has been warm lately, under that more than two feet of snow, it's iced up. So the roads are going to be icy, slushy and probably many of them not plowed.

I'm going to call my editor and see what I need to do (weather photos anyone?), just not sure how early is too early.

You have a funny way of using "happy," Rosie.

I really want me some global warming right now. I was hoping to run outside this morning. I can't run in the cold, because it makes me cough (don't ask). I woke up, and the wind was whipping and it felt like Antarctica. And I don't live in Manitoba or Nome or Siberia, or where it is that Rosie and her elves live. This just ain't right. I ended up on the treadmill inside. I was a disappointed.
