    He's 75, and he's still attracting stalkers.

His speech upon accepting the Ford C. Frick Award a few years back is still one of the greatest things I've ever seen. You haven't seen funny until you've seen a bunch of stodgy Hall of Famers doubled over in laughter.

To hell with the Hall of Famers, I was doubled over myself.

    Thanks for that, Beej.

He also helped take a home run away from Hank Aaron. Aaron hit one out, but Uecker pointed out to the umpire that Aaron's foot was out of the batter's box.

Yeah, I read that in Aaron's book. He had double-hitched his swing because he was facing Curt Simmons, and he could never really get onto Simmons' delivery.

Bobby Bragan, who of course just died a couple of days ago, was the Braves' manager at the time and he got the heave-ho after going apeshit.

    Anyway, Happy Birthday, Uke. :)

    And Happy Birthday Gretz.

Although I can't help but think that he should still be playing, even if he is 49. You think Brett Favre is gonna let 49 stop him from playing, dammit?? :D

I buy the $14.95/month MLB Audio package mainly so I can listen to Uecker's Brewers broadcasts. They've gotten me through manny a dragging, long desk shift. Happy Birthday, Uke!

Second story headline from that link:

21 arrested here in nationwide gang investigation

I can't wait to read Crossed Giblets of Death VI ~ Oz Edition. :)
