Customer: (pause) Aah, how about Cheddar?

Owner: Well, we don't get much call for it around here, sir.

Customer: Not much ca-- it's the single most popular cheese in the world!

    Owner: Not 'round here, sir.

Customer: (slight pause) and what IS the most popular cheese 'round hyah?

    Owner: 'Illchester, sir.

    Customer: IS it.

Owner: Oh, yes, it's staggeringly popular in this manor, squire.

    Customer: Is it.

Owner: It's our number one best seller, sir!

    Customer: I see. Uuh...'Illchester, eh?

    Owner: Right, sir.

Customer: All right. Okay. 'Have you got any?' he asked, expecting the answer 'no'.

    Owner: I'll have a look, sir........nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno.

Customer: It's not much of a cheese shop, is it?

    Owner: Finest in the district!

Customer: (annoyed) Explain the logic underlying that conclusion, please.

Owner: Well, it's so clean, sir!

Customer: It's certainly uncontaminated by cheese....

was a good documentary about Python on this past week.

Cleese sounds like he could be a prick. Graham Chapman was disappointed in Cleese's reaction to Chapman's announcement he was gay, but Cleese's explanation sounded a little defensive.

I also didn't realize that Chapman was that much of an alcoholic.

Most likely, it was because John had already guessed. Graham and John had gone to Cambridge together, had been writing partners on Flying Circus together, etc. When you're connected with the hip with someone for 30 years, there's very little you don't know about someone.

Cleese said he had no idea, and I got the impression he felt like Chapman had "lied" to him.
His quote was long the lines, "You think you know someone and then all of sudden he's a different person. I had no problem with Chapman's being gay, I was just surprised."

    COULD be?

Check out the Book "The Pythons," very revealing, very insightful.

And Idle and Cleese could have a rift.
