That seems about right, though Derek Jeter could enter the conversation.

Tiger and Federer is a good 1-2. Would Vince Young be eligible being that he led Texas past USC in January? What about any Olympians?

Tiger Woods should get it on accomplishments but Michael Vick deserves it because he has redefined the position.

How about Agassi if he wins the Open?

I think that's the key here, there's plenty of time left. If Jeter or Pujols carry a team to a title, or even if Detroit wins it all, I could see them going lame & giving it to the Young Guns (Verlander, Zumaya, Liriano, Papelbon, Weaver). As for Agassi, how do you come up with another cover story on the guy 6 months after Smith's classic? If Nadal beats Federer in a great final (or even loses one) could they give it to both as the rivalry to save tennis?

    He did that this year?

    And Jeter?
    For what?
He isn't even necessarily the best player in the American League this year.

I may be wrong, but isn't the Man of the Year voted on, ala, the MVP and not just "awarded"? If so, it would be difficult for Nadal AND Federer to get enough votes to both beat Tiger AND tie each other.

    It will be Woods.
    It might be Federer.
Can't see any other real contenders.
Here's a weird idea. Suppose Mickelson hadn't gone brain-dead on the 18th tee at Winged Foot. Then we have two guys who split four majors. What to do?
