Halladay wins NL Cy Young

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Ilmago, Nov 16, 2010.

  1. JC,

Just listing the Cy Young award winners in his league during those seasons. Colon obviously is the weak link in that list.

But he won 21 games, and isn't wins the most important stat for a pitcher? [ducking]

Yes wins are, that is why they named the award after Cy Young, just ask Yankee fan.
Over the last 8 years Halladay has been the best pitcher in baseball, not every year, but over that time period who has been more consistent than Halladay?

Actually, you'd probably make a better argument using nine years, but choosing the time period is a bit manipulative.

There is an argument to be made that using the last three or four seasons would be a better measure of who is the best now. Then you could say Lincecum deserves the honor despite not being at his best in 2010.

Hell, you could say that it should just be this year. Felix Hernandez had a lower ERA despite pitching in the tougher league.
