    Actually, he didn't. Both our mistakes. Looked it up.

    He had a bad back, and said it happened during the warmup. But he didn't tell the team, which had to pull him after one. Then, the Marlins lit up Jose Contreras. Team was not happy.

    Yeah I remember that now. In his defense he was 40 years old and not in great shape.

    Still doesn't excuse him for not telling anyone and shame on him (and any professional) player for not staying in shape.

    For all of this hype about Wells and his October glory he has 1 world series win to his resume. There are at least 5 Yankee pitchers from that era more worthy of the HOF than Wells.

    We don't know what kind of medical issues Wells' had that contributed to his weight problem. Some people can't help it. Even with all of the extra poundage he was still a very good athlets.
