Things that are more important than who said what about whom. Chapter XVIII

Had the commander given the order to fire, I don't think I could criticize the decision, given the circumstances.

Glad he didn't, but I wouldn't blame him if he did.

Man, I bet that was a tense few minutes.

Should have put a missile up the ass of one of those boats.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but ... I don't think there was anything more important than who was saying what about whom on that ship at the time.

Yes. Lord knows, we need to be fighting another war.

As three_bags said, it would have been hard to blame the commander if he had fired, but I'm glad he didn't -- and we all should be.

Was that Dick Cheney behind the wheel of one of those speedboats?

For our younger members, in addition to Googling "Gulf of Tonkin" and "LBJ" for information on the ginning up of war, try "USS Vincennes" and "Iran Air 655" for a sobering reminder of our naval presence in the Persian Gulf.

Fenian, I am stunned it took you so long to make this ridiculous comparison. I was looking for this thread two days ago.

I don't think he should ever be allowed near weaponry of any kind. He's a bit too familiar with friendly fire.
