  2. So Mariotti's explanation is "sorry, guy, I'm not a beat writer?" Sounds like he's throwing the beat writer under the bus. Sorry, if you rip someone, you should show up and take the heat yourself, and not do a drive-by. That's weak.

It has long been my opinion that, if the parachute artists among our major political bigfeet, had to show up in the dressing rooms of the politiicians and candidates they so easily pound on, polititical journalism wouldn't be the high-school laughfest it is today.
    Fine post.

Mariotti was doing fine in that column -- until he got to the part about why there's no rule or reason that says he needs to visit the White Sox clubhouse.

Couldn't disagree more, and as Whitlock points out, it's not like others haven't been made to feel uncomfortable.

I was also simply surprised -- surprised that this was the case, and surprised he admitted it in print.

There are a lot of love-em/hate-em writers we talk about on this board; most of them are back on the scene with people they rip soon after the rip is done.

And the other thing is: As wrong as Guillen is about most of this, he's got a case on this point, which gives him a little bit of leverage he wouldn't otherwise have in defending the indefensible.

Bill Simmons says Jay Mariotti is fuckin' on-point. No need for "quotes."

Loopy's couch-apprentice kisses up to Eddie Munster?

If you're going to write Mariotti-like bile like you should plan to be in the clubhouse the next day. I had no idea he is this much of a wimp. Looser. Ozzie just used the wrong word.

If I looked like this, I wouldn't show up in the clubhouse either.
