Grey's Anatomy: Emblematic of the fall of civiliation? Discuss

Can a show jump the shark before it has even had an official episode?

ABC is certainly putting its best foot forward when it coms to cast for this thing. But the early moments play like one of those bad, BAD 1980s "coming of age in a new town" movies.

I don't normally watch the show, but I did catch some of it while eating dinner with my wife. (The pizza was in the living room and furthermore, I'll let you tell her to change the channel during that show.)

She seemed to think the spin-off would be successful. I couldn't get away from thinking it felt like Ally McBeal in a medical office (but much less humorous).

I really enjoyed the show. I'm guessing they wanted to use this as a test, though, to see if it would succeed with ratings. Does anyone else think that if focus groups thought tonight was bad, Addison will be back in Seattle rather quickly?

It was horrible. My wife and I started watching Grey's Anatomy at the beginning of this season and liked it. I will say, in my defense, beer was involved at the time, but it became a nice little Thursday tradition for us. However, that show last night was so puke awful our Thursday nights will have to develop a new ritual. I'd rather watch an endless loop of a shirtless David Hasselhoff trashed and trying to eat a hamburger.

i, for one, would watch kate walsh do just about anything. 8)

but i can't believe they killed mare winningham.

that show kinda sucked. I keep fast-forwarding my TiVo through it to get to the real Grey's Anatomy instead of that garbage.

Soon as she was admitted, I told the wife this had the look of a long plotline or a death, depending on the complication they write in.

They're constantly looking to create drama in Meredith's life.

And the spinoff had some moments, but ultimately sucked.

Hell, I'll watch it. I think that's a helluva cast -- Diggs, Daly, Breneman. Lots of possibilities.
