My even part-support for UM football just died. For at least one year.

Michigan's spring practice is over.

The NCAA allows, IIRC, 20 days of practice prior to the first game.

After having not touched a football for four years, I am sure Paulus will be in fine form to run the U-M offense after 20 practice sessions.

At least he practiced getting hit by standing underneath the basket at Cameron and many other ACC venues for four years. In RichRod's brilliant scheme, that is not something to be taken lightly.

Actually, he rarely got hit: most of the time, he flopped like a lazy sunflower in the breeze.

What a strange story. Someone desperately wants to continue to be semi-famous, even if that means, as a grad student, looking like a mascot on a going-nowhere football team's sidelines.

Personally, I think this is a pretty cool story.

The kid was once the Gatorade national player of the year in football and the starting QB in the ARmy/Navy national all-star game, so it's not like he doesn't have the credentials to be the Michigan QB. I'll be interested in following this, the question of whether a guy can come back at this level after 4 years away from the game is a compelling one. I hope it works out.
