Yeah, Norman had some epic losses and that sort of coloured public memory of him. Bob Tway holes a bunker shot on the 72nd hole to beat him in the 1986 PGA. Larry Mize holes a 140-foot chip to beat him in a playoff at the 87 Masters. Some guy (sorry, can't remember) holes out from the fairway to beat him at the Honda Classic in the early 90s. Corey Pavin beats him at the 95 US Open.

And, of course, the epic collapse to lose the 1996 Masters to Nick Faldo. On the one hand, he had to be a darn good player just to get in position to win that many times. But, yeah, if he could have closed the deal even half the time, he would be regarded far differently.

Tiger turned 63 into 66 yesterday, who was paired with Rory and shot 68.

    Yeah. Tiger's pretty intimidated.

Maltbie and Jacobsen were even joking about Norman yesterday on air.

I don't see Tiger being intimated He's just going about his business, regardless of who he's paired with.

If you can look at Tiger's year on its own merits --- without comparing it to what Tiger did in some previous years --- its pretty darn good. Three tournament wins, tops the money list, makes Ryder Cup team, in contention for Fed Ex Cup... yeah, most players would happily take that.
