This is a nice thing Buzz is doing. It is a story all in itself.

Of course, the local media can't write about Buzz because other than after games, he hasn't been made available to them in over a month.

Am told Buzz Williams won't be available for local media this week either. Hasn't met with them since Jan. 2.

He could not have been happy last night losing in double OT. One of
better games I've watched in a while .

20 wins with victories over Creighton and 'Nova should get The Friars

That is getting odd.

Combined with the sudden interest in sharing a story that he had previously held private, it's a strategy often employed by institutions that expect bad news to come out shortly and are trying to pre-empt it with good news.

Maybe he needs to rest his vocal chords: The lede from last night's game:

Providence, R.I. — Buzz Williams' vocal chords were so strained afterward that he could not speak beyond a high, raspy whisper.

At the same time the Marquette coach lost his voice, time ran out on the Golden Eagles' season.

Not soft. Just lazy.

Perhaps he could have talked to the players who have been run off the team when better options became available.

Or he could have talked to DJ Newbill, who signed but was told before he stepped foot onto the campus (by an assistant) that there was a paperwork issue and no scholarship was available. There was no paperwork issue when Newbill's spot was quickly filled by a player Williams' deemed better, however.

Or he could have talked to the MU student who was allegedly assaulted by several players. The manner in which that alleged incident was swept under the rug so effortlessly was almost as impressive as the Elite Eight run. That run, of course, was led by at least one of the alleged perps.

Williams is a solid coach, who is adept at cultivating a nice image. But pull back the curtains and you won't like what you see.

I agree with the above but don't you think that he genuinely wants to do good by these kids? As I said, I would never trust Buzz, he seems slimy and I believe that he cheats, but like many of us, there is some good and some bad.

Newbie, this isn't a new story. College sports, recruiting in general, is a cutthroat business. To say that Williams is a "cheater" is basically saying the same thing about Coach K, Bob McKillop at Davidson, et al.

There is nothing wrong with doing the right thing in the community, and willing to whack a fellow league coach at the knees to get a top recruit. Everyone does it.

Everyone, including you and me, can cultivate a personality on the front end, and hide a completely different one behind the curtains.

Does every coach cover for his players when they rape a young woman and keep them on his team? I wonder how the young lady that had her life ruined feels about Saint Buzz? I tend to remember Alford getting crucified over the Pierre Pierce story. As far as "my point", Buzz Williams is a scumbag and a total dick and it pisses me off to see people worshipping a man that has hurt so many people. In fact , this type of thing just enables a bully, the school President and AD "resigned" because they had the audacity to challenge Buzz to have some control over his program. Now, with all that being said, I do believe that he cares about those kids, hence my initial post.

Providence also had a situation like Marquette this season that now has just hit the
national news. Two freshman recruits were accused of rape in November and
were suspended for season. One of players transferred to Oregon and the other
stayed and can practice but not play the season.
