Kansas State High School State Track Meet.

    Covering 24 Schools.

Fuck me and my 8 3/4 toes.

Only thing worse than Track? Field.

    Love, Chef.

You should file a disability claim and say that covering track poses a severe danger. If you get a shot put dropped on your foot, that could take you down to 6 1/4 toes in a pinch.

Last time I covered the state track and field meet full-time (both days) was about five years ago.

I was scheduled the following Wednesday for spinal-fusion surgery.

Imagine my chagrin (great word) when I went back to write my stories from the 5-story (that's an estimate) pressbox and found an "out-of-order" sign on the elevator.

You have obviously never watched baseball.

There is no comparison. I would gladly watch/cover several baseball games than 10 mind-numbing brain-cramp endusing hours.

Small-school softball kicks all those asses. Brutal. Thank god it's been 19 years since I had to cover that shit.

    Chef2,

Do you have to type in agate for the full day?

That's occupancy in every circle of hell.

No. I am in radio. 2 reports per hour, plus facebooking and tweeting results.
First half of day, only had 3 schools, so not nearly as crazy. Also, doing hourly reports for state-wide affiliate.
