it was 21-3 at the half. allen's play in the third quarter is what finished off the game. if i remember correctly, he might not have had a carry in the fourth quarter.

The sideline grab was not too shabby either.

Brady threw an awful interception that SHOULD have resulted in that game going OT.

I still have nightmares about Billups' drop about once a month. Which is probably about 30 fewer times per month than Billups.

Not that I doubted it, but Simon is right. I didn't realize what happened to Billups. Killed in an automobile accident, possibly driving as fast as 140 MPH.

Lewis Billups (October 10, 1963, Tampa, Florida–April 10, 1994, Orlando, FL) was a former NFL cornerback who played seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers.

At the end of his NFL career, Billups had a number of brushes with the law. He reportedly threatened to kill Jenny Chapman, the sister of NBA player Rex Chapman, whom he was dating.

He eventually served over a year in prison, gaining his release on April 4, 1994. Six days later, Billups died in a car crash when driving at speeds in excess of 100 mph he lost control on Interstate 90 of his Corvette convertible, destroying over 50 meters of steel railing. Billups' friend who was seated next to him was killed on impact but Billups was thrown from the car and was later found by highway patrol men attending to the scene. Billups was taken to the Orlando hospital where he died from his injuries.

(The authors of "Pros and Cons: The Criminals Who Play in the NFL" devoted some space in their book for this maniac, who also threatened Rex Chapman.)

It's a weak criterion. There are plenty of interceptions that are solely the receiver's fault. There are also multiple plays in any given game that should be turnovers, but aren't due to factors beyond the offensive player's control. Are you ruling out players who committed fumbles that their own team recovered?

What's the toughest situation in any game? I think we can agree that it's a setup where if you make the plays, your team wins, and if not, you lose, and even though it's a team game, you are in a position of disproportionate responsibility, like, say, being up with two on, two out, and a run down in the ninth inning of a playoff game.
Using that criterion, the winner of Simon's competition has to be Montana in Super Bowl XXIII. Last possession, on your own 14 yard line, and if you don't score, you lose. So he threw an INT in the game. So what?
IMO in my opinion Rice is one of the two players (Lawrence Taylor the other) who gives Jim Brown a run for his money as the all-time number one in pro football. But that doesn't change the fact quarterbacks are much more important to winning and losing than receivers are.
