IIRC, fmr Reds and Giants catcher Brad Gulden also was once traded for a PTBNL, himself.

A fleeting burst of success. Or, as Overrated Perennially, calls it, the best day of his life.

I thought maybe this was a trivia question.

    How about Jose Uribe?

He was Jose Gonzalez in 1985 when he was traded from St. Louis to San Francisco in the Jack Clark trade. Gonzalez announced, before joining the Giants, that he wanted to be known as Jose Uribe instead of Jose Gonzalez (his mother's last name).

    Nice.

Brett Butler was the player to be named later in the Len Barker trade from Cleveland to Atlanta in 1983. The Indians allowed the Braves to keep Butler the rest of the season, but the news got out and it was obviously a PR disaster.

He's far from the greatest anything, but Dickie Noles was traded for himself as well in the 80s. Cubs sent him to the Tigers for a PTBNL, which turned out to be Noles himself.
