Agreed. Though I've been listening to Nightfall of Diamonds a lot recently. Given the Dead's prolific live album output, one of their concert recordings should be on the list.

    Others that are list-worthy ...

    Aloha from Hawaii - Elvis
Live at the Sands - The Rat Pack
    The Main Event - Sinatra
The Central Park Concert - Dave Matthews Band
    Double Live - Garth Brooks

Exit Stage Left is the Rush album I was thinking of, since I know they have several out there...

Exit Stage Left is a great live album (and I've still got the vinyl)

I voted for Frampton because, personally, I can't stand live albums. I'd rather hear the studio track so I can memorize the lyrics, along with the "ooohs" and "aaahs".

But Frampton's I don't mind so much, probably because I don't think I've ever heard them not live.

The songs on Comes Alive are much better live, as are most of the songs on Live Bullet. The studio versions of the Exit Stage Left songs are much better. It seems the live album as a phenomenon (tho most of the time it was like a greatest hits album in that it was a device to fulfill a record contract) is not so prevalent now.

As do I... I have about 100 records that I've saved over the years and I don't even own a record player.

I'm sort of a connoisseur of live albums and I have to say Jerry Lee Lewis' Live at the Star Club wins. Recorded in 1964 in Hamburg, Germany a pissed off Jerry Lee sets out to prove that the boys from Liverpool are a bunch of frauds when it comes to rock 'n' roll. Largely an afterthought at this point in his career, Lewis manages to wreck the place with breakneck versions of all his classics. Just an incredible listen.

    Others:
Led Zeppelin - How the West Was Won: A very late addition to the Zeppelin catalog, this is what they were talking about when describing the Hammer of the Gods.
Clash - From Here to Eternity: Technically a live collection spanning the Clash's career, but it's brilliantly mixed and put together.
MC5 - Kick Out the Jams: A snapshot of the radical '60s like no other.

    Over rated:
KISS - Alive: A good listen, but way too cleaned up in the studio. The thing is, they didn't really need to polish their work as most of the bootlegs from the era would attest. Basically they were pretty consistent night in and night out.
AC/DC - all of its live albums: They chronicled the Bon Scott era with an album full of questionable song selections. The Live From Atlantic Studios bootleg was pretty shit quality. The 1992 Live album featured hideous fade outs after every song.

Second NoOne on Kick Out the Jams.

Has anyone mentioned James Brown - Live at the Apollo?
