Van Morrison has a live album coming out.

He'll be on Imus Thursday. Does TV next week, which I can't believe.

One of the surviving Doors appears on Gloria, or so I've heard...

  2. He's been doing Astral Weeks as a performance piece for a while now.
    Still a great, great work.

I'll send you my 8-track of Wishbone Ash Live (1973) if you'll live blog his appearance on Regis next week.

Van's album, Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl, is already out. Rolling Stone gave it 3 1/2 stars in the issue with Sean Penn on the cover.

Edit: Ah, I just saw it is skedded for a release later this week. I fugured it was already out since RS and AllMusic.com reviewed it.

It was released in Europe 2/9 from what I've read. I think today or tomorrow here.

The double vinyl has more cuts than the cd does, like Gloria, where Densmore is listed.

    Mr Bastard,

I think I mentioned it here previously but out of fanboidom I looked up Astral Weeks's bass player, Richard Davis, one of my personal whateverhappenedtos ... a little searching and it turns out that he was teaching at a college in Wisconsin, exchanged emails (he signed "Brother Richard"), was incredibly decent and generous ... if Astral Weeks was being done live, I can't think of who could fill his loafers and the work would suffer for the trying ...
