    OK, maybe a different way to approach an old topic: Name instances where a cover is the definitive version of a song in the minds of the general public.

    Like, I think when most people think of "Hallelujah," they think of the Jeff Buckley version. And -- one that makes me want to pull out my own spleen -- I think most people believe "Have I Told You Lately?" is a Rod Stewart song.
