HELL NO! A fantastic catch, but not GOAT.

    Not Willie Mays.

    Not Otis Nixon.

Not Torii Hunter in the All-Star Game.

Not Kevin Mitchell barehanded at Busch.

    Not Jeter.

Then, you add in the meaning of it.

    Not close.

Willie Mays' catch came in the World Series, on a dead run, about 430 feet away from the plate. Gimme a fucking break. Fantastic, yes. No way in hell is it the GOAT

It was an incredible catch and one that we will see for many years to come (especially if the Mets win), but not the greatest. The Edmonds catch in '97 where he caught the ball over his shoulder while diving backwards might get my vote.

There is no way Mays' over-the-shoulder is better than that.

    No fucking way.

Chavez took none of those baby steps to set up a BS home run robber... that was full-run, ice cream cone.

The ball had to have been 12 feet above the ground.

You have to factor in the stakes.

At least, that was my premise.

Sorry Columbo. But give me Al Gionfriddo robbing Joe D--and Joe D kicking the dirt--any day over Chavez.

That might have been the stupidest thing ever posted, which on this site, is saying something. Mays' catch was in a World fucking Series, and had a higher degree of difficulty to boot.
